How can I see a Power Trac?

Power Tracs are sold direct from our factory in Tazewell, VA. By coming to the factory, you can try out any Power Trac machine and attachments you like. Power Trac builds to inventory rather than per order, so there is usually a good stock of equipment in our warehouse.

Does Power Trac accept personal checks?

Power Trac can accept personal checks from your business or personal account, but we will wait for checks to clear before the equipment will be released. This process can take up to two weeks. To ensure quick delivery, cashier's checks are recommended.

Is There a Power Trac dealer in my area?

Since 1998, Power Trac does not sell through dealers. All machines are sold direct from the factory. By selling our equipment direct, we save the customer 30% vs. buying through a dealer. Also, as a Power Trac customer, you'll receive expert advice on service, maintenance and operation by the people who manufacture the equipment.

How long have Power Tracs been manufactured?

Power Tracs have been manufactured for more than 17 years by a company with over 25 years experience manufacturing articulated equipment.

If I buy a Power Trac, how does the warranty

work?

We have a simple one year parts-only warranty. If a part needs replaced on your Power Trac, simply call our 800 number once you have determined the type of part needed. If you need help troubleshooting, our parts and service staff are available to assist you in determining which part needs replacing. A returned goods authorization number will then be issued for the faulty part. We will send you the part by UPS ground service and if we receive the faulty part within 30 days and it is tagged with an RGA number, there is no charge, if found to be faulty material or workmanship.

How can I learn to service a Power Trac myself?

Power Trac offers a free service training class at our facility in Tazewell, VA. This class can be as detailed as the customer chooses. Let our parts and service staff teach you to operate, maintain and service your Power Trac machine yourself. Does Power Trac finance equipment?

We do not finance the machines and attachments ourselves, but we do work with some finance companies that are familiar with our equipment and may take out several steps for you and make financing easier. Please call 1-800 THE YARD or e-mail info@power-trac.com for more information.

What if I want to finance a machine through my

local bank?

Power Trac will make every effort to work with your local bank or finance company of your choice, but it is best to call our sales department in advance and we will discuss our terms with them.

Are all Power Trac attachments interchangeable?

No. Power Trac machines have different hydraulic PTO outputs and that along with the thickness of the Quick attach plate on the machine will determine the size of the attachments that the particular model will run. Please refer to the price sheet of the machine you are interested in to see which size attachments are complimentary to that machine. 

What if I have another brand of attachment that I

would like to use on my Power Trac?

You can, providing that the 1. hydraulic output of the attachment is compatible with the hydraulic PTO on the machine. (Please refer to the machine's info since this varies with every model.)... and 2. you purchase a custom attachment plate from Power Trac and weld it onto the attachment- this will allow you to use Power Trac's quick attach system wit this particular attachment.

If I purchase a Power Trac, how can I have it

shipped to me?

Upon purchase of Power Trac equipment, the customer can pick up the equipment at our facility or you may have your order shipped to you via tractor trailer or private shipping company. A tractor trailer company may be less expensive, but you will need a loading dock or be able to pick up the equipment at the closest terminal. A private shipping company can bring it to your door and simply drive the machine off their trailer. All trailer packages (and some tractors) must be shipped by private carrier due to size. What about sales tax on my order?

If a customer picks up equipment from our facility, Virginia state sales tax (5.3%) will be added to the total. If the equipment is shipped, the customer is responsible for paying the sales tax rate in their state. If you are tax exempt, please send a copy of your tax exempt certificate prior to your order.

Why will the engine not start?

The treadle may not be in the neutral position. The PTO switch may be turned on. The engine may be cold and not choking properly - please refer to the engine manual to determine how to use the choke properly. The key switch may be bad- power should go through the battery to the key switch. The battery could be dead or the machine could be out of fuel- check fuel level and check battery with a tester or charger.

Why will the machine not tram?

The treadle and cable may not be stroking the tram pump- Look at the treadle or tram pump while someone moves the treadle in both directions. The tow valve may be open- the tow valve should be closed. Please refer to the diagram in the machine's parts manual. The suction filter may be stopped up or collapsed. The tram pump may be bad- refer to the owner's manual to learn to check pressure on the tram pump. If all other parts are functioning properly, the wheel motors may be bad.

Why will the PTO not work?

The hoses that attach to the attachment may not be coupled. The PTO switch may be bad. The relief valve may have trash in it. The PTO pump or joy couplers could be bad.

Why is the machine tramming sluggish?

The lever on the tram pump may not be moving full travel, the tow valve should be closed, the hydraulic filter may need replaced and the wheel motors could be bypassing.

What could be causing my machine to overheat?

The engine's oil cooler may be stopped up, the cooler fan may be using the treadle improperly, the operator may be lugging the machine with the throttle.

Why is the machine still moving when the treadle is

in the neutral position?

The lever on the pump is out of adjustment or the neutral creep feature needs to be adjusted. Please refer to the neutral creep adjustment in parts manual.

Why is the brake not working?

Check the brake pins to make sure they are not stuck and also check the cables on the brake to make sure they are not loose.

How often should the hydraulic filter be replaced?

Every 50 hours.

Why is there hydraulic oil leaking around the fill

cap?

There is too much oil in the tank.

Why are the bearings failing on the mower deck?

The bearings may not be greased properly- they must be greased at least every 8 hours, or you may not be using the right type of grease- a high-temperature, high-speed grease is recommended. Also check the belt on the mower to be sure it is tensioned properly.
